IE CINCINNATI COMMERCIAL TRIBUNE, SUNDAY, AUGUSTf Archbishop Moeller To Dedicate St Martins Church Sunday Morning; Parade Will Precede Ceremonies]Impressive ceremonies will mark the dedication of St. Martin’s Church, located on Glenmore avenue, Cheviot, Sunday morning, August 19, at 10 o’clock. The Rev. Henry Moeller, Archbishop of Cincinnati, will officiate at the ceremonies and will be assisted by pasters and priests from parishes in Cincinnati and vicinity.The dedication services will be preceded by a parade formed of the children of St. Martin’s parish, men of the parish and of various neighboring parishes.The new St. Martin’s Church, which cost $225,000, is one of the most attractive structures of its kind in Cincinnati and is modeled after the ancient Basilicas of the old world. Although the edifice is of massive consruction it s nevertheless built along simple lines, the exterior finish being of brick with Bedford (Ind.) limestone trimmings, the roof being of mingled shaded tile.The lighting fixtures are in a cove in which the lamps and specially designed reflectors have been placed, which will provide an indirect illumination which will cast a soft mellow light in the entire interior of the church.The main or high altar was made in Italy and is of El Blancho marble and mosaics, surmounted by a baldachin designed in pure Roman Corinthian style. Beneath the Men-sa, or table altar, there is a panel of The Last Supoer” carved of pure white marble in high relief after the famous painting in the Vatican of Leonardo DeVinci, and above the altar is a magnificent crucifixion group carved out of one mammoth block of Carrara marble.The aisles and sanctuary are of terrazzo tile, while the pews are of ecclesiastical design and stained a silver gray, which harmonizes well with the interior finish of vlhe edifice.A new organ of the direct electric type has been installed. Fred W. Rotert, organist., of the church, drew the specifications for the organ. In the present organ there are 8 79 pipes, ranging in size from sixteen feet to less than one-half an Inch.The church will easily accommodate 1,100 worshippers, the dimen-sions being 108x170 feet. Adjoining the sanctuary on the right is a chapel which will be used by the sisters who teach in the St. Martin School.The. bells, which will peal forth next Sunday the glad tiding that the church Is to be dedicated, are from the old St. Philomena Church on East Pearl street, which was destroyed by fire last January, and were procured for St. Martin’s Church by the pastor, the Rev. Henry J. Schuer.Those who served on the Building Committee are Albert Bruns, D. Brockhoff, F. Dietrich, Clifford Kopp, Frank Krollman, Charles Tchaible, Joseph Schockman, T. Wesbrick and Joseph Neyer, as contractor and builder.J. C. Grunkemeyer was the architect.and Broadway was sold by Theodore Mayer Bro. to Harry Collin for $6,000.
