Monocacy Trail Opens Sept. 4The Monocacy Battle Trail will open Sept* 4 during a four-day Civil War Units Bivouac and Battle Program from Sept, 3 to Sept, 6, inclusive, at Braddock Heights Park on U.S, 40A near Frederick, and at Monocacy Battlefield,The events are sponsored by the Army of Northern Virginia CSa Inc, and the Maryland Historical Trail Engineers Inc,The central event of the opening day ceremonies for the new trail wilt he a hike through Monocacy Bah lefield. The event will begin at 9 a»m, at Reich* Ford Road and the Monocacy River. Particlpwiti will be able to fordthe river and skirmish in original trenches* A free ribbon will be given to participating units, A special medal may be purchased for $3,50 and an embroidered emblem for $1,25.Any group with responsible adult leadership is welcome to participate. Persons interestedare urged to register, as soon as possible, with Maryland Historical Trails, Box 419, Gleo Bumie, Md., 21061.Those wishing to participate in the Bivouac and Battle Program, which is open to all Civil War units subscribing to the National Safety Code, should send a $2 camp and battle fee to Gen,Henry C.
