Mr. Shamk was also the recipient of a postal-card shower.T. J. Treon, of Hendricks township; Ferdinand -Treon, of Jackson township; F. C. Treon, of this city and Mrs. Laura Fox, of Hope, will attend the Treon-Ruebaker family reunion to be held at. the fair grounds in Dayton, O., August 18.Fred Pile, who was wounded by a shot from his father’s rifle, Tuesday night, after being mistaken for a burglar at his home near Marietta, was reported to be resting somewhat easier today. The ball has not been found ana he.is still in a serious condition.Will Smithers, who was operated on at Indianapolis yesterday, survived the operation and was steadily gaining strength today. The operation was performed by Dr. T. C.♦Kennedy and was the second for young Smithers within the past four months.Joe Beyer, Jr., of Liberty township, has the banner yield of wheaj up to date. Ten acres of the genial •ex-trustee’s land gave up 360 bushels of wheat, which tested sixty pounds. Joe says he used homegrown fertilizer, manure, on this field.The Red Cross degree and the Order of the Temple were conferred on Wilbur O. Peck and Walter Otto at the meeting of the Knights Templar yesterday afternoon and evening. A fine supper was served and a large number of knights were present to enjoy the feed and witness the ritualistic work.A horse hitched to a wagon belonging . to Walter A. Brown, the tinner, slipped on the pavement as the wagon was turning off Harrison street on to Jackson street this morning and fell to the pavement. One of the shafts on the wagon was broken, the harness was considerably damaged and the horse was bruised and cut.
