Early Pioneer Of Vader Is DeadVader, Aug. 4.—One of the real pioneers of the west passed away liere Thursday, July 29, with the death of Mrs. Sarah Ellen Booth, who died suc}-denly of a heart attack on the porcli of her little- cottagre on her son, Dan booth's farm. She had apparently been in srood health and hot* death came as a shock to her family and friends. Funeral services were held Monday at the Evangelical church at Vader with Rev. William Plowman of Vader and Itev. Ted Goodwin of Kydorwood eon-ductiTifcC the service-s. Three of her favorite hymns We Shall Shine As rrhe Stars”, There'll Be No Iark Valley’7 and ‘‘Lead Kindly Ligrht” were spans' by Mrs* William Plowman and Mrs. Iew*y I^augtilin, Interment was n the Booth family plot in the Little Falls cemetery. JTliere were many beautiful floral emblems.Sarah Ellen Roberts was born at Grand Mound, May 10, 186G, one of a family of 11 children. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adna Roberts came to Washington by wsigon train from Vermontin the -early days of the settling: o£Wash inert on. They located on land nearGrand Mound arnd made trips to Turn-water, the only store in the country; to purchase needed supplies. She was married June V, 1SS8, at her parents’ home to William Booth, whose people had settled in the Cougar Flats country. She and her husband lived on his homestead, now the Dobbins dairy farm, on Cougar Flats. With the exemption of a few years in town follow* tng her husband's death 10 year ago, all of the 52 yeears since her marriage has been spent on Cougar Flats. Six sens and one daughter were born to Mr. and Mrs. Booth, of whom three, Donnie Wl, with whom she made her home, Adna, who lives on a farm, and Lyndon of Vader survives her. Fred and Dewey died while quite young, Jesse a few years ago. and the little girl at birth. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two brothers and two sisters, George Roberts, Vader, Dewey Roberts, address unknown, Mrs, Mabel Allen, Seattle; Mrs, Kate Wilson, Tucson, Ariz. The pall bearers, Walter McMurphy, Max Townsend, John McCarty, Oliver Roundtree, Joseph Nolan and Charles Roberts were chosen from old friends of the family. Interment was in charge of Cattermole Funeral Home of Winlock.
