West iittfin Fiiiuikipation.The first of August is an interesting day with the friends of human liberty, and more especially with the colored portion of our people, being the anniversary of the consummation of the noble objects of Wilheeforck,I Clarkson and other philanthropists of England.The day was celebrated by a large number of freeI colored people in Cincinnati, by an Excursion to Glendale, by Railroad, fifteen Cars ol gay hearts being in the Train. At Glendale not less than two thousand peoplewere assembled. At the stand the exerr-ises consisted:■of Prayer, reading of the Declaration of Independence, j i an Oration, Singing, Ac. Every thing passed off* pleasantly, and we have no doubt those who participated in these festivities went to their several places of business with cheerful hearts, promising themselves much joy in that “good time coining,” when the Slave population of the United States shall celebrate their emancipation. IMr. John 13. Lott, of this City, has just returned from Chatham, C. W., where he participated in a pleasant celebration of a similar kind. He says between six hundred and one thousand colored people were present. Mr. L. speaks encouragingly of the condition and pios-peets of the colored citizens of Canada West.
