Noon ceremony unites VanGorden, Melton pairFirst Presbyterian Church in Concord was the setting Saturday for the noon wedding of Valerie Kay VanGorden and Duane Everette Melton. Rev. Mary Boyd Click and Dr. E. Eugene Hunsinger performed the ceremony.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duane VanGorden of Concord, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Everette Melton, also of Concord.Mrs. Anita Bultmann Tritt was organist, and Keith Grayson Troxler Jr. was soloist, accompanied on guitar by David Gregory Cox. In addition, Mrs. Kay Henderson VanGorden and Miss Karen Ann Henderson presented vocal selections.Miss Martha Kate Beckum and Miss Mary Kent Hillman distributed bulletins, and Miss Sheryl Kaye Mc-Clamrock kept the guest register.The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a gown of white silk organza designed with a sweetheart neckline and short puff sleeves. The bodice was adorned with venise lace, seed pearls and sequins. Her chapel train was trimmed with crystal pleated organza and lace. Her venise lace and illusion chapel-length veil was finished with scalloped pencil edging and small venise lace appliques. She carried a colonial cascade of white roses, stephanotis and dendrobium orchids entwined with English ivy and leatherleaf fern.Miss Tricia Ann VanGorden of Concord attended her sister as maid of honor. She wore a rose summer satin gown with a long, full skirt, an embroidered eyelet bodice and short puff sleeves. She carried a colonial cascade of rubrum lilies, white dendrobium orchids and deep pink sweetheart roses, entwined with English ivy and leatherleaf fern.Bridesmaids were Mrs. Kay Henderson VanGorden of Winter-ville, the bride’s sister-in-law; Mrs. Tammy Handt Gierhart of Indianapolis, Ind., the bride’s cousin; Mrs. Patricia Neal Amette and Mrs. Karen Powers Troxler, both of Kannapolis; Mrs. Joy Floyd Cox of Raleigh; and Mrs. Jennifer McEachem Ritchie of Myrtle Beach, S.C.The bridesmaids wore dresses identical to that of the maid of honor. Each bridesmaid carried flowers matching the maid of honor’s, placed on Bibles.Honorary bridesmaid was Miss Janet Elizabeth Niblock.The bridegroom chose his father as best man.
