Mr., Mrs. Leo Twigg Observe AnniversaryMr. and Mrs. Leo B. Twigg, West View Terrace, Cumberland, were honored recently onanniversary The celebration was hosted by their children and grandchildren.The couple was married June20, 1936, at the First Baptist Church Parsonage, Bedford Street. Rev. Edwin Saylor was the officiating clergyman and Mrs. Pauline Symons, Akron, Ohio, and the late James Symons served as the attendants.Mrs. Twigg, the former Ildra Rosalie Gaunty, is the daughter of the late Earl and Ildra L. (Lynch) Gaunty, Cumberland. Mr. Twigg is the son of the late A. Bain and Bessie M. (Davis) Twigg, Cumberland. He retired from the Cumberland Steel Company in 1977 after 27 yearsof service.The anniversary celebration started with a family barbeque at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David Barnes, Cumberland. Mr. and Mrs. Twigg’s son and daughter-in-law, (Ret.) Air Force M/Sgt. and Mrs. Stanley E. Twigg, and family, traveled from their home in Lancaster, Calif., to attend.The couple was presented with a miocrowave oven and cookware presented by their family.The next day Mr. and Mrs. Twigg were honored with dinner at Gehauf’s Restaurant and were presented with a matching silk rose corsage and boutonniere. A party celebration then followed at their daughter’s home. The color scheme was gold, white and light blue.Mr. Twigg had previously presented his wife with a new dress and matching accessories for the occasion and Mrs. Twigg presented her husband that evening with a gold wedding band which had been her desire for 50 years.The couple’s youngest grandson performed a musical skit for them to the old-time song “Paper Doll”. Mr. and Mrs. Twigg were also presented a portrait of their two children and their families, including their five grandchildren.The couple received many cards, letters and gifts from friends and relatives.Sharon Crites also attended the celebration.the occasion of the 50th weddingMr. and Mrs. Leo B.
