Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Arason Celebrate Golden WeddingMr. and Mrs. Tryggvl Arasonwere at the home of their eon, Elmer, to greet their many friends and relatives on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary, Sunday, July 9th.Present at the gathering with them were their five sons and their families, Elmer and Bryan of Cypress River, Stanley of Vancouver, Allan of Winnipeg, and Lloyd of Brandon. They have fifteen grandchildren.Mrs. Arason's sister Gwen, Mrs Jack Baldw-in of Winnipeg, their bridesmaid, and Jennie Johnson, also of Winnipeg, their pianist at the wedding in 1911, were present for lt;/tu eyent.Pouring tea for the occasion were Mrs. Jack Baldwin. Mias Jennie Johnson, Mrs. Oli Arason, Mrs. Ben Anderson. The ladies of the Bru community were in charge of the lunch.Mr. and Mrs Arason were presented with two TV rockers and a purse of money by the communities of Bru. Cypress River and Glenbo-, ro. The presentation w'as made by B K. Johnson. They also received} a gold sunburst clock from their frmily, as well as many beautiful, gifts and flowers from friends and organizations.Greetings were received from Prime Minister Diefenbaker, Premier Duff Roblin and relatives and friends from many points.Mr Arason was born at Husavic, near Gimli, Man., in 1874. and came by oxen with his parents to the Grund district in 1880 and settled on the farm where his nephew, Skip, now resides.Mrs. Arason. the former Olive Tbordarson, was born in Winnipeg in 1887. They w’ere married in Winnipeg on October 11th, 1911 at the home of Mrs. Arason’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. S. Thordarson.They farmed in the Bru district until 1930 when they moved to the farm two miles west of Cypress River. and retired to Gknboro in 1947.
