The people of Fogo held their aniual regattaon Thursday last, and the occasion, wo aro told, was one of much real enjoyment. The boats used in the different races were codseine skiffs, four-oared punts and yachts. Business was suspended, the authorities prohibited the sale of intoxicating drink during the day, and, as a result, the affair passed off in a highly satisfactory manner. Some frost was experienced at the latter place on Friday, and the potato crop suffered in consequence. Her Majesty’s gun-boat “ Firebrand” dropped into Seldom-Come-By on Sunday week, hut remained only a short time. Thunderstorms were more frequent than usual,and had, it was thought, the afect of causing so much alarm to “ the denizens of the deep” as to completely take away their appetite. That’s about the extent of tho “ Gem’s” news.
