Menlo StationObservingAnniversaryRay Blanquie, managing owner of the Menlo Service Station at Fourth and Irwin streets in San Rafael, is celebrating the first anniversary of opening of the station today and tomorrow.Free flowers will be given to the ladies. Customer* may get cards for free gasoline. Cards will contain a number from one to 15, denoting the number of gallons of free gasoline available to winners.Blanquie and Stan Rizing of Tiburon, owner of Menlo Oil Co. chain of independent service stations, announced that the octane rating of Menlo gasoline has been raised to 98 plus.Blanquie’s service station was the first Menlo station to be opened in Marin. During the past year, two other Menlo stations were opened, on Red Hill avenue in San Anselmo and on Highway 101 at Lucas Valley road.The company plans to open j two more stations In Marin soon.A resident of San Francisco, Blanquie operates the station with the help of two assistants, Tom Fyfe, 65 Alta Vista, San Rafael, and Larry Gruver, 23 Coleman drive, San Rafael, and four part-time employees.
