STAMPEDE OP CATTLE.Lively Times This Morning; on a Pier atCharlestown.There was a stampede of cattle upon pier 7 of the Hooaac tunnel docks, Charlestown, this forenoon, and several longshoremen narrowly escaped seriousinjury.About 10 o’clock, while cattle were being placed on board the steamship Georgian, a fierce Colorado steer broke from the rest upon leaving the cars and started down the pier at racehorse speed. The gates leading to the street, however, were closed in time to prevent his running amuck.Attempts were made to drive him back into the run to the ship, but he became so wild that he stampeded the other cattle, and they broke away andran in confusion about the pier.A number of longshoremen and cattlemen were obliged to flee to hiding places and clamber upon piles of freight.After much maneuvering and the free use of clubs and goads the cattle were finally driven on board.
