JulyIt has been some time since I saw any news in the Register from tins place. 1 suppose the beys have uil been extremely busy and consequentlydid not take time to write Theweather is exceedingly dry here. Corn and grass are suffering greatly toi want of rain. Potatoes, evidently, will only be a partial crop — The Literary Society held its regular meet ing Saturday evening, July 23. There was a good house, but owing to busy times arid hot weather, the society fell somewhat .-hort of its usual interesting programme. The debate, however, was moderately good and created considerable enthusiasm. The subject of discussion was: **Resolved, that the miser is more injurious to society than the spendthrift.T The decision was in favor of the negative. At the next meeting Mr. P. 1 . Meek and Mr. II. V. Wright will be the principal disputants. These gentlemen are interest mg speakers and always commandmarked attention Mr. Alva Cowell,of Townsend, visited at Riley Centerlast Sunday.... The U.B. campmeetingcommenced at Bay Shore Thursday. There w ill be a union Sunday school picnic ut the Bay Shore camp grounds Augusts. The United Brethren hold a quarterly meeting at Bay Shore next Saturday and Sunday — The \ ickery Sunday school will give an ice cream festival at the hall in Vickery Saturday evening, July SO. The proceeds are to be applied towards an organ fui the Sunday school.... Miss Clara Woodford and Miss Ida Danner wentto Lakeside last Saturday Mr. G. G.Meek ha* a new buggy and knowshow to use it Mr. k. I.
