ObituaryERIK ALEXANDER OBERGErik Alexander Oberg, a resident of the Swan Valley Personal Care Home and formerly of Alpine, Manitoba, passed away on April 19, 1981, following a long illness.Mr. Oberg was born, on January 4,1894, in Ramsjo, Sweden where he completed his education. He came to the Swan River Valley in 1910 and homesteaded in the Alpine District. He served in the Royal Canadian Army during World War I and was honorably discharged on June 24, 1919. He returned to the Alpine District where he continued to farm. He was employed by Manitoba Pool Elevators for a period of time and then returned to farming from which he retired in 1960.Following his retirement, he lived in Minitonas and later in Benito. He was a resident of the Swan Valley Lodge for one year before moving to the Personal Care Home.Surviving are brothers John Oberg, Likely, B.C and Gunnar Oberg, Boden Sweden. He was pre deceased by his parents one sister, Mrs. Julia Han son, of Winnipeg, and a brother in Sweden.Pastor Ken Englund conducted the funeral service from the Alpine Covenant Church on April 23, 1981. Interment was in the Alpine Cemetery.Pallbearers were Gunnar Zander, John Carlson, Ernie Stenberg, Helmer Josephson, Rune Zander, and Tyko Peterson.Pauli Funeral Home was in care of the arrangements.
