Rain Soon For The%Berries, Or ElseThe county's most famous crop, strawberries, are in dire need of rain. If a precipitation does not occur soon, the crop will be an almost complete failure. With acreage sharply reduced, local growers were hopeful of much better prices for their berries this year.Prospect for better prices were boosted sharply with the government entering the market at attractive base prices. Hundreds of barrels of Cullman strawberries were sought for shipment to England. Barrels, processing machines, labor and the money is ready—but prospects for a fair volume of berries is dimishing.There is yet time for a fair crop—always providing that the rains come.
