JENKIXS-ALLBN.John Jenkins, son of Mrs* Ella Jenkins, of Carlisle, was married Tuesday April 14 at Rockford, 111., to Miss Katherine Allen, of Chicago, according to word received here a few daysago by Mrs. Jenkins.John, it will be remembered but recently was honorably discharged from the U. S. navy, after serving about six years, and soon after his discharge spent several weeks herewith his mother.About one month ago he went to Freeport, 111., to visit his sisters, Mrs. F. C. Wenthe and Mrs. P. K. Shepherd and it was while there that he met the lady of his choice, who came to. Freeport from Chicago to visit relatives.Tuesday morning, April 14, the couple went to Rockford, a city near Freeport, and were married.Mr. Jenkins recently secured a position as street car conductor on the Freeport street railway, and the newly married couple will make thatcity their future home.News of the wedding came as a surprise to Mrs. Jenkins, as well as John’s friends, of which he has a large number here who extend con-I gratulations.—Carlisle News.
