HOLDS AN INITIATIONClass of Sixty Take Degrees in Ceremony at Pass Christian SundayiSeveral hundred members of the Knights of Columbus gathered yesterday at Pass Christian for the initiation of sixty candidate# into the first, second and third degrees of the order, the affair being under the auspices ofthe Bishop Gunn Council of Gulfport,The cooperating councils were thoseof Bay St, Louis, Biloxi and Pascagoula. The initiation ceremonies, including the church services, parade and luncheon occupied a full day and was one of the most successful t held on the Mississippi Coast iu i many years. The Knights of Colura- i bus are conducting a nation-wid? \ drive and the Coast initiation was t part of this Catholic Action program.In addition to the Coast knights, j there were member# of the order t present from SlidellT New Orleans ( and Mobile. After the assembling of the knights and candidates the entire delegation proceeded to St. Paul’s Church on the Beach Boulevard at | ] Pass Christian for the Mass. Rev. Wililam J. Leach was ?the celebrant and the sermon was .delivered by t Rev. Leo Fahey, a brilliant young ( orator who is a native of Bay St. jLoui# in which city he is stationed.^ tFather Fabey spoke on ‘'Marks of £ the Church,” in which he traced the origin of the Roman Catholic Church from its beginning more than nineteen hundred years ago. The two main aisles were filled with member* of the order and knights were given a hearty welcome by both Fa the.‘ftLeach and Fahey.Following the church services, the j I Initiation parade was staged and jwas possibly the largest proeessiooever held at the Pass. The Harrison.sCounty motorcycle patrol led theparade followed by the national colors, including flag units of the PassChristian Boy Scouts. The visiting official# of the order followed and then came the thirty-piece band of St. Stanislaus College of Bay St Louis in full uniform.
