THE SEVENTH RELAY CARNIVAL.Harvard wins ttie two and four Mile. Yale takes the one mile.The Seventh Annual Relay Carnival took place on Saturday. After much preparation the five hundred relay runners including all sizes and conditions of men and boys assembled to show their strength. Promptly at2.30 the first school relay toed themark and without intereption the events were run off throughout the entire program. It was not Penn’s day as far as first places were considered yet the meet came off so successfully that it was never the less a triumph for Pennsylvania,Harvard came of victorious in the two and four mile while Yale won the one mile race. The special events too Pennsylvania was unableto get a first taking, however several seconds and thirds. ^ ,The two mile Championship race was the first big race of the day. The struggle was determined and at the end of the second relay Penn lead the race, this lead was lost however and at the finish Harvard touched the tape fiirst, followed by Oolumbi aand Pennsylvania, Yale and Cornell taking respectively fourth and fifth. Likewise in the four-milerelay Harvard came in the victor the Pennsylvania man crossed the line three yards in the rear with Cornell's runner at bis heels.Yale camt in for the first place in the one-mile, Chicago second, Syracuse third while Pennsylvannia s position was as far back as possible being last or more considerately stated, fourth.Honors in the special events did not fall in abundance to the Red and Blue contestants.In the jumps Baxter made third in the high, Leak in third in the pole vault and Fleisher third in the broad jump. Third place was likewise captured by Westney in the 100 yards dash while Howard took second in the 12G hurdle. In the weights also Pennsylvania was doomed to be content with third in the hammer which was taken by'Haraand fourth in the discus also taken by Hare, while in the shot putting contest Penn did not make aplace,SUMMARY OF EVENTS.The following tables show the results of each race:School Race—Won by Germantown Friend’s School: second, St. Luke’s Academy; third, St. Joseph’s Preparatory School; fourth, Wilmington Friends’ School; fifth, Cathedral Male School.
