B. Morgan, Perryton; Mrs. W. M. Boston, Goodnight; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Powell, Perryton.Mrs. Brooks Is a native Texan. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Starkey, Wellington. Brooks left his home in Oklahoma Territory lo begin farming in Collingsworth County. The couple married April 37 near Wellington, crossing the Salt Fork River wherecd there until 1918, when the bought a farm near Des Moines, N. M. In 1924 the couple moved to Hale County and established a home near Abernathy.The trip was made by Brooks and a son by covered wagon. Theybrought the household goods and livestock. Mrs. Brooks and four of the children drove through in a Model T.A heart attack In 1953 caused Brooks to retire from active farming and the couple moved to Abernathy.
