Experience7 Is ScheduledCHARLOTTE — The Jimi Hendrix Experience -will appear at the Charlotte coliseum on Friday, May 9, at 8:30 p.m. Jimi Hendrix is unlike any other performer as he combines the sounds and effects of soul, hard rock, blues and psychedelic.His two 21-year-old English partners, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist-guitarist Noel Redding, have been an overnight success. They have had one chart-topping single after another; “Hey Joe, M “Purple Haze,” “The Wind Cries Mary,” and most recently, “Burning of the Midnight Lamp,” and “Foxey Lady.” In addition, they were the leading album seller in 1968.In a cross-country tour in spring, 1968, the Experience played to capacity crowds. Over 50 per cent of their concerts were sold out two weeks before the appearance. At the Hollywood bowl, 18,400 people paid to see the fantastic group that grossed over $87,000. Last spring at the Philharmonic hall in New York, over $50,000 was grossed. More recently, Hendrix Experience grossed $78,000 at the spectrum in Philadelphia on April 19, $26,000 in Raleigh on April 11 and have sold out the forum in Los Angeles for theApril 26 date, grossing *105,000.
