Office expansion being considered for administratorsTrustees for the Gatesville Independent School District are being asked to consider expanding the district’s administrative offices.GISD Superintendent James Baize and maintenance supervisor Keith Bell presented a plan Monday night that would add 2,000 square feet to the present building.Baize described the crowded conditions at the administration office, and said that with the expansions completed at local campuses, it was time to do something about the administration building.Bell presented a preliminary drawing for adding 40 feet to the front of the building.“We looked at several options, and we felt the only real option was to take part of the parking lot in front of the building,” Bell said.Adequate parking would remainin the front and side of the building, Bell added. If approved as .proposed, the project would not disturb any trees or utility lines. The preliminary drawing showed the current board room and reception area being remodeled for office space, and the addition being used for a new board room and reception area. In addition, another restroom would be added to the building.Baize also noted that the technology office would double in size, which he indicated as greatly needed.Board members expressed some concern for the future, wondering if the 40 by 50 foot addition would be sufficient in years to come. Baize said three employees have been added to the administrative office since the district moved into the building andPlease see OFFICE, P, 14
