Clara Hamernik Celebrates Her 100th BirthdayA family dinner party Sunday at the Vineyard Restaurant and a reception following at her home in Dunkirk, honored Mrs. Clara Fafin-ski Hamernik on her 100th birthday. Party hosts were her daughters, Mrs. Jane Michalske and Mrs. Jean Ad-amczak, both of Dunkirk, and guests included her 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.Mrs. Hamernik, who owned and operated Hamernik’s Tavern on Main Street, Dunkirk, for 20 years, enjoys good health. She continues to do her own housework and gardening and for relaxation plays pinochle and watches television — Buffalo Bills games and professional bowling her favorites. Until five years ago, she drove her own car, preferring a sports model.Gifts to Mrs. Hamernik included numerous floral arrangements, among them 100 roses sent by a nephew, Frederick Shinners, a G.E. executive in Tokyo, and his family.The daughter of the late Frank and Kathryn Kosinski Fafinski, she was married to the late Walter Hamernik. In addition to Mrs. Michalske and Mrs. Adamczak, the couple had two other daughters. Emily Shinners and Alice Wozniak, both now deceased. She also had seven brothers and sisters, Frank. Ignatius, Thomas and John Fafinski, Frances Klaybor, Helen Hamernik and Bernice Krystofiak.
