Turn Out of the Fire1 Department.iIIThe Filth Auuiveisary of the Galveston Fire Department is being celebrated to-day in grand style. Those who have witnessed previous displays readily admit that the turn out to-day excclls all, in the matter of decorations and the number of representatives from the various companies.The procession, owing to the rainfall in the morning, was not formed until •bout 11 o’clock when it moved trom the corner ol Bath Avenue and Strand.BAN JACINTO VETERANS.This being the day set apart for the celebration of the battle of San Jacinto an invitation was extended to the survivors to join the procession. The engine was handsomely decorated with fliwera and evergreens.A conspicuous feature was a large game cock mounted npon the soiokc-stack of the engine. The motto of the company,“Always Ready, was handsomely displayed in letters cf gold. “Washington” was organized in the year 1817 as a tru:k company, and received iis firstengine in April, 1850. The steamer now run by the company was built hy Silsby A Co., of Seneca Falls. N. A prominent feature of this, company was tho appearance of seven hoys dressed in the uniform of the company and seated upon the truok. This company claims to be the oldest organization in the Department, dating back to the 3rd of October, 1843. The truck at present used by the company was received from New York during the mouth ot April, 1867. The engine then used by the company is now in the possession of No. 8. Toe engine now run by the company was purchased iu 1871, when the company was regularly chartered by the Legislature.
