Dr. Charlton Opens New Dental Office In Sandy LakeBy MARY JANE EGGER Record-Argus Correspondent The Sandy Lake business district has seen several changes within the last year. One addition to the area is a dental office located in the newly renovated Mercer County State Bank building.The new dentist is Dennis J. Charlton, a June 1981 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.He and his wife, the former Lynn Carey, have worked closely with the bank for more than a year in the design and construction of the new office. The office opened in early February this year.The Charltons are npt newcomers to the area. Lynn is a graduate of Lakeview High School and taught in the school district from September 1974 to January 1979. While the couple lived in the area, Dennis alsotaught in Mercer schools.In the fall of 1977, he entered Pitt Dental School. During his four years of study, the Charltons moved to Pittsburgh, where Lynn accepted a teaching position at the Upper St. Clair School District.While at Pitt, Dr. Charlton participated in an extensive clinically based program. These experiences included academic preparation prior to two years of treating patients through Pitt’s Dental Clinic. He also worked as part of an oral surgery externship at Montefiore Hospital and in an expanded duties clinic outside the regular dental clinic.Upon graduation, Dr. Charlton worked at the Greenville Dental Clinic while awaiting the completion of the Sandy Lake office. During the months of December and January, he also offered his services to the estate of the late Dr. M. William Dietz of Meadville. He is now concentrating his efforts at Sandy Lake.The Charltons are extending an invitation to the community to tour the new office.
