Ombauns observe25th anniversaryFifty-six friends and relatives of Bill and Shirley Ornbaun surprised them with a 25th wedding anniversary party recently at the Broiler Steak House.Guests placed money and cards beneath a silver money tree, decorated with 25 Bicentennial silver dollars and white and silver wedding bells, tied with blue ribbon. sJim Hamilton served as toastmaster for the event. His wife, Patty Hamilton was in charge of arrangements for the three tiered, blue and silver anniversary cake cut and served during the evening.Flower arrangements at the head table were white chrysanthemums, stock and fern, with silver bows and tapers. They were made for the event by Beverly Fouquette:Relatives attending the celebration were the couple’s son, Len, and their two daughters and sons-in-law: Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dixon (Kathy Ornbaun) and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Day (Kay Ornbaun), all of Ukiah. A third daughter, Karen, and her husband Mike Strong, of Alabama, were unable to attend.Others attending included Bill’s mother, Loretta Ornbaunof Ukiah; and Shirley’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. EldenBrightenstine of Potter Valley ; Shirley’s brother, Robert Brightenstine and his wife, Pat, of San Ramon; Shirley’s sister, Arlene, and husband Dick Briscoe of Castroville; Mr. and Mrs. Wes Patton of San Mateo, Dorothy and Irene Hewitt of Sunnyvale; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Snmlley and Landis and Kim Bdrtolomei of Sonoma; and Stan and Tammi Bartolomei of Ukiah.Relatives unable to attend were Bill’s sister, Pat Bartolomei, Nancy Ford, Daisy Reed, Harvey Ivan, and Frank Brightenstine, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hargraves, Mrs. George Thomas and Elaine Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Smalley, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smalley Jr., Linda Smalley, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keeline, Farrance Ornbaun and David Briscoe.Billy and Shirley were married in Carson City, Nev., on March 26, 1951, and made their first home in Oceanside while Bill was serving in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton. They moved to the Ofnbaun family home on school street, later.HAPPY ANNIVERSARY - The faces of Bill and Shirley Ornbaun show that their 25th wedding anniversary celebration was a happy surprise event.
