Former Arenzvllle pastor dies In IowaThe Rev. Gilbert Allen SaathofT, 78, of 824 Hayea St.. Burlington, Iowa, died Saturday, April 6,1991 at his home.He was the pastor of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arensville from 1941-47.He was born June 23,1912 In Litchfield, a son of John G. and AugustaBoss Saathoff.He was married to Caroline M.Moorman on June 7, 1937 in Carthage. She died Sept. 2S, 1970. He was married to Mary Bonar Johnson Aug. 3, 1975 in Burlington. She survives.He was a graduate of Carthage College and the Lutheran School of Theologv in Chicago. He was ordained Mayt 5, 1939. He was the pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington from 1951-77.Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Karen (Joseph) Walter, San Diego, Calif., Gretchen Saathoff, New York City, N.Y., Marlene and Marilyn Saathoff, both of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, John Saathoff, Indi-alantic, Fla. and Dan Saathoff, Warrenville; a sister, Dorothy Saathoff, Arlington, Va.; two stepchildren, Karen Johnson and Kevin Johnson, both of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren.Services were held April 11 at the Oak Street Baptist Church with burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
