Approximately $6. 039 was spent for that purpose Ii 1946 a new lease with the Arcadi; Company provided that the placi was to be used as a moving pic ture house, with the Arcadia Com pany providing the neeessar; equipment. The lease called fo a 15 year use of the property bu in 1954 the State Department o I Labor and Industry again stoppei its operation, stating that because of the frame construction of th, building, it was no longer suitable for use as a theatrical house The orguial board of trustees now all deceased, has been re placed by the following board who will now, under the Court*! decision, have the future manage ment of the property, Clyde W Bailey, Carl E Carson, Frank L Dunham, Edmond Osgood, Edwarc H Owlett, H E Webster Sr, El mer G Carson, Elwyn S Lewis John Bache, Joseph H Williams and Warren H Spencer Clyde Bailey, Joseph H Will iams and John Bache, all heard a' i Tuesday’s hearing, expressed themselves as believing that the Baehlt;Auditorium, as it stands today has no use All voiced the feehnj that the building should be razed but the land on whieh it stands the most valuble part of the Bachc gift to the town, kept and the funds derived from its rental usee to further the cultural life of the town It is believed that the other trustees, who were not present at Tuesday’s hearing, but will be heard at subsequent hearings will express the same opinion Also heard on Tuesday vv(_re John Dugan chief of the Wells boro Volunteer Firemen s Associ ation, and Borough secretary, a ho had recently examined the Audi tonum and found it to be an extreme fire hazard, and Don Gill supervising principal of the Wells boro Charleston School Svstem who explained, in detail what facilities his school system has foi public entertainment, and the rules and regulations for their useBv Dugan s testimony it re vealcd that in 1957 the Borough Council had gone on rccoid as believing that the Bache Auditor lum was a fire hazard, and by let ter had asked the Board of Trus tees to move towards having it razed Since that lime repeated complaints had come to the coun cil that it was being entered by anyone who shose to go there and because of its delapidated condi tion entry could not be controlled At Tuesday's hearing question ing was done by Ally Thomas Wilcox and the major informs tion was provided by Atty Ed ward Owlett, who has cuslodv of the trustees' record Hts father the late Atty G Mason Owlett served as se^retan for the tru« tees until his death Further hearings will be held before the Court renders a de cision in the matter
