Bache Trustees(Oontmued from pftge 1}it in proper condition, it was closed on August 1, 1922, and remained closed until October In August of that year the building was leased to the Arcadia Theatre Company, which provided the nee essary repairs. Approximately $6,-039 was spent for that purpose In 1946 a new lease with the Arcadia Company provided that the place was to he used as a moving pic ture house, with the Arcadia Com pany providing the necessary equipment. The lease called for a 15 year use of the property but in 1954 the State Department of I Labor and Industry again stopped its operation, stating that because of the frame construction of the building, it was no longer suitable for use as a theatrical house The orginal board of trustees, now all deceased, has been re placed by the following board, who will now, under the Court’s decision, have the future management of the property, Clyde W Bailey, Carl E Carson, Frank L Dunham, Edmond Osgood, Edward H Owlett, H E Webster Sr, Elmer G Carson, Efwyn S Lewis John Bache, Joseph H Williams, and Warren H Spencer Clyde Bailey, Joseph H Will lams and John Bache, all heard at Tuesday’s hearing, expressed them selves as believing that the BacheAuditorium, as it stands today has no use All voiced the feeling that the building should be razed, but the land on which it stands, the most valuble part of the Bache gift to the town, kept and the funds derived from its rental used to further the cultural life of the town It is believed that the other trustees, who were not present at Tuesday’s hearing, but will be heard at subsequent hearings will express the same opinion Also heard on Tuesday wcrei John Dugan chief of the Wells ; boro Volunteer Firemen s Assoei ! ation, and Borough secretary, ,\ho had recently examined the Audi tonum and found it to be an extreme fire hazard, and Don Gill supervising principal of the Wells boro Charleston School Svstem who explained, in detail what facilities his school system has foi public entertainment, and the rule and regulations for their use Bv Dugan s testimony it wa-, re vealcd that in 1957 the Borough Council had gone on rccoid as believing that the Bache Auditor lum was a fire hazard, and by let ter had asked the Board of Trus tees to move towards having it1 razed Since that lime repeated i complaints had come to the conn i cil that it was being entered by anyone who shose to go there and because of its delapidated condi , tion entry could not be controlled At Tuesday’s hearing question ing was done by Altv Thomas ' Wilcox and the mayor mforma lion was provided by Atty Ed ward Owlett, who has cuslodv of 1 the trustees' record His father :the late Atty G Mason Owlett ! served as se^retars for the tru« tees until his death 'Further hearings will be held \ before the Court renders a de eision in the matter {
