When Mrs. Cynthia Abell celebrated tier 100th birtlidny anniversary. messages poured In from all over the nallon. Among the greet- ' lngs was a card from n woman who remembered Mrs. AbciJ's wedding!It was a double wedding and both couples lived lo celebrate their Ctith wedding anniversaries. Mrs, Abell had not seen the woman who sent the card since I860!One greeting came from the son of an old schoolmate; another from a woman whom Mrs, Abell had nursed through an Illness, but had not seen since 18D8,Everybody In Buhl turned out to honor the oldest resident. Mrs. William Hatfield brought a thrce-tlercd bithday cake topped with 100 candles. Neighbors living In the McCollum addition on Clover road brought a cake with 100 written on It. Mrs. Clyde Cault baked a three-tiered cake In varied colors. The Tom Wilsons, Mxs. Ruby Bough, the Wes Fullers, B. B, Goff all sent potted plants and cut flowers.After all, It's not every day someone In Buhl, or any other community. observes the century mark in birthdays.Sometimes when the going gets a bit rough, It might be well to call to mind Harriet Beecher Stowe's design for living:“When you get Into a tight place and everything goes against you, 'til It seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that Is Just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
