William W. Shaw, 96,union electricianWilliam W. Shaw, 96, of Drexel Hill, a uninfnelectrician, died April 15 at the Church Lane Health Care Center, Broomall.Bom in Manchester, England, Mr. Shaw lived in Philadelphia for a number of years before moving toDrexel Hill 22 years ago. He attended the Philadelphia College of Textiles for four years and worked duringhis early life as a loom repairman for Carr Plus of Gloucester, N.J.Since 1943, he was employed as an electrician through Local 98 of the Independent Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Shaw was a World War I veteran of the U.S. Army.An enthusiastic ham radio operator, he also was active in the Masons as a member of Kendrick-Wagner Lodge 690, FAM, and Quaker Chapter 38.Husband of the late Mary B. Donald Shaw, who died in 1977, he is survived by a brother, Sidney Shaw of Lansdowne; and a sister, Mae Henricks of GreencoveSprings, Fla.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Spencer T. Videon Funeral Home, Garrett Road atShadeland Ave., Drexel Hill, where there will be a calling hour after 10 a.m. and a Masonic service byKendrick-Wagner Lodge 690 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Fern wood Cemetery, Upper Darby.
