Gantt last night by her children, grandchildren and a number of friends at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. John Owens, on Brewer Avenue, Germantown.Mrs. Gantt, who ia an estimable and much beloved lady, yesterday attained her 74th birthday and it was decided to recognize this event by her relatives who tendered her the agreeable sur*prise. __The presents received and the way in which the table was spread after tne guests arrived, more than made up for the lack of home decorations, which were withheld test the lady suspect what was going on In the centre of the table was a large and handsomely decorated birthday cake, ornamented with 74 candles, and large bunches of beautiful itowers, adorned other parts of the table.
