AWARDED d. S. C.—Capt. Edward M. Murray of this city, who led a successful search for an American officer who lay wounded in the Japanese lines during the New Georgia campaign, was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. Above, Captain Murray is shown receiving the decoration from Maj. Gen. Leonard F. Wing, commander of the 43rd Division. Following the ceremony, held somewhere in the South Pacific, Captain Murray was honored with a parade. Son of Martin L. Murray of 181 Sixth Avenue, Captain Munay is a graduate of Williams College andAlbany Law School.
