The recent discovery of a huge prehistoric fort will be of much interest to antiquarians. The fort, or mound lies on the summit of large hill overlooking Lake Kegonsa seven miles south of Madison, this state. In its magnitude, and the skill evidently displayed in its construction, this mound is said to rank with Aztalan or the works of the Ohio valley The fort is square, and has four outer walls, each 400 feet in length.. From the centre of these walls, and at right angles to them, other great walls stretch out a distance of 300 feet. At a distance of ten feet inside the outer walls, a second line of breastworks extends paralled to the others. Pottery, arrow heads, broken axes, and other relics of an extinct race, afe found in profusion.s:0 6 S1#1£1
