Mrs Loeb, although celebrating ber seventy fifth birthday anniversary, is a woman of wooderfnl grace and exceptionally young appearance and reminds one of the adage, ‘ One is just as old as they think they are Her gentle refinement and rare charms have won for her a wide oirole of friends as was manifested in the post card and telegram shower which mounted to the handreds in numbers. Beautiful gifts and floral tributes were showered upon her until the house was literally banked in bloom. The stately rooms were tastefully decorat ed for the oocasion. Everywhere in artiitio profusion were, groupings of palms, ferns, and vases of American boanty roses, art baskets of sweet peas and lilies of the valley and red ’arnatione, while upon the piano a great ont glass vase oversowed with pink roses. Tall stately Easter lilies lent their beauty to the banks of flowers and greenery, and suspended from the drapings of similax and pink carnations in the archway, between the parlors were the figures 75 in gold.The dining table was exquisitely ap pointed. Reposing in the center of the snowy linen'was a low plateau of pink rosea whose beautiful petals and sweet1 perfume added much /to the enjoy ment of the guests.The honored guest sat in a chair handsomely deoorated in similax and pink carnations tied with a graceful Kw of pink tulle with the gold numbers 75 in prominence.An elegant eight course dinner was served, the effective color schorae of pink botng noticeable throughout the oourses. During the dinner choruses were sung, the words of which were composed by Irvin JacobB in Mrs. Loeb’a honor. Toasts were given by Jacob Strans, Sam Loeb. Loaia Loeb, Joe Selig, }S. J. Straus. I D. Strans, l^eon Selig, and Sidney Loeb. S. S. Loeb acted as toastmaster and announced each speaker in an excoeding-y clever manner. The sweet strains of music rendered by the 8aok orches-ra blended with the merriment and good cheer'of the guests. Souvenirs of nt glass boquet holders ropoeiug in Bilver filigree, filled with fragrant pink roses were given to each gueat. Covers were laid for twenty-fivo.THE EVENING CELEltltATIOXIn the evening Mr. and Mrs. SeligJ whose hospitality is proverbial, onter tertained sixty lady and gentlemen 'uests in honor of Mrs. Loeb, to iridge whist party which was excep ■ ionatly charming. An olaborate lunch was served reception style in the dining 00m. The central table from which he cakes and ices were served was beautifully arranged. A great bowl of cat glass and silver filigree over-lowing with pink carnations and tied with a fluffy pink tulle bow adorned be center or the table, while a large jirtbday cake with the name, MarianaLoeb, 1838-1913 in fancy pinE iotter■■ ng was in prominence,The rich glow of the lights mingled with the banking of greenery and ragrance of the flowers was an ideal environment for the brilliantly gown • ed ladies and well groomed gentleman, while above the refined chatter of the guests floated the sweet strains of the lack orchestra.Handsome trophies were given as prizes for the highest scores mdo. M. Loeb were her sisters, Mrs. F. W. Straus and Mrs. I. Brill of Chicago- her daughter, Mrs. Al. Wineburg, if Seattle, Wash.; her two sons, Louis Loeb, wife and daughter, Dorothy, of Dulatb, Mian.; and Sam Loeb and wife and son, Sidney, of Seattle, Wash: ier grandson, Leon Selig, of Duluth, Jinn; also the Mesdames A. Wolfe, L. Rosenthal, S. Regensburg and H, Kahn of Chicago: Mrs. Max Livings-on and daughter, Madeline of South Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. Abe Jacobs of Kendallville.
