He dated his active life from the davs when he helped h s father build the stone wall around the National Cemetery His father was a mason and a Civil War veteran.Mr. Tawney was s native of Adams County and was a son of the late Charles Z and Elizabeth 'McGoniga! Tawney. He was born February 19. 1856 and had lived most of his life in GettysburgAt the age of 16, he began to learn the baking business and spent 25 years in that occupation.
