RAST FORT MADISONdnhtiMr. and Mrs. Henry Jones and family of Lomax visited here Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Haigh.Friday April 5 being the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Zern of near Dallas City, a surprise celebration was planned for them. Relatives gathered at 7:30 o’clock and proceeded to the home.A lovely congoleum rug and a large basket of pansies were presented to the honored couple also many cards and other gifts. A social time was enjoyed throughout the evening interspersed with music. Angel food cake and fruit salad was served. ^ Mrs. R. J. Kidson baked and decor-' ated a cake with a floral design, with a horseshoe and the dates 1885-1935 on it. Those present were, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Zern of Fort Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zern and. family and Cecil Zern of Os-kaloosa, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Zern of Laura, 111., Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Zern, Mr. and Mrs. Vane Zern and daughter of Pontoosuc, Mr. Charley Zern and Mrs. Susan Bainter of La Harpe, Mr. and Mrs. Harold‘Burr, Mr. C. P. Burr of Dallas City, Mrs. W. . Zern, Faye, Joan, Rachel, Lawrence and Stanley from here, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Zern and daughter Thelma. Mrs. LaGarda Zern Wilson of Salt Lake City and Wldney Zern from here were the only children not present. This is the first family reunion since 1930.
