Birthday Surprise.A grand birthday surprise was givenn honor of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Archer,of Raccoon township, Parke county, on the 3d inst., Mrs. Archer’s birthday being on the 29th of Mrel' and Mrs. Archer’s on the 4th of April. The plans were well laid and worked to perfection. Forty-three persons gathered at their residence, all getting in at one time, with well filled baskets, and gave them a complete surprise. In a very short time there was a long table arranged and groaning beneath its burden of luxuries of all descriptions. Forty-five persons sat down to the table, all doing ample justice to the occasion. Everyone was in rare good humor and in sympathy with the oocasion, which was a very agreeable one. Among the guests were Reuben Cox and family, Mrs. Hannah Webster, William Denman and family, Thomas Marks and family, Mrs. Woolvs, of Rosed ale, James Jones and family, George Rea and family, Mrs. Sarah Boswell and daughter, Benjamin Kilburn and wife, Friend Webster and wife, John Yong and wife and Daniel Bell, the rest of tha guests being made up of a portion of the young folks of our vicinity. Mr. and Mrs.Archer are loved and highly respectedby all their neigbors and friends.D. 8.
