Lucky Stadley’s Whimsical Clay “Precious Moment’ Chosen To Travel With Art ShowThe Association of Nebraska Art Clubs (ANAC) traveling art show will be exhibited at the New Earth Clay Pottery and Art Gallery on Wednesday April 14 through Tuesday April 27 excluding Sunday and Monday when the Gallery is closed.ANAC holds a four day conference and judged art show each June. Thirty nine clubs and 837 members were represented. Twenty five pieces are selected as “Excellent” and chosen to travel to some 21 different towns throughout Nebraska.In this show a variety of medium is exhibited, pencil, watercolor, acrylic, photography, colored pencil, clay, pastel and mixed media.Terry Isaac, a noted animal acrylic painter and author of “Painting the Drama of Wildlife” was the judge of this show. He explained that he looked for original pieces that showed a good sense of design, mastery of the medium and a “unique” quality. In other words a piece of art that is not often seen. It demonstrates a “fresh” approach.Local artist, Lucky Stradley of Hubble has a whimsical clay “Precious Moment” which was chosen to travel with this group.Stradley began her art career at the 21 in 1973 out of necessity when her band died in a crop dusting accident. She began painting motorcycle tanks and helmets in order to provide for her old son and herself while she attended Business College in Colorado Springs, Colo.In 1975, she moved to Louisville, Ky to pursue her love of horses and art. She began to carve pictures, portraits and logos in leather items such things as notebooks, briefcases, and portfolios that she made. She exhibited and sold her art throughout the United States and Canada in the 1980s. While at the Arabian Horse Canadian Nationals, she was commissioned to do the awards for the stall decorating and later the awards for the Canadian National Exhibition.In 1983, she established and managed Bluegrass Equine Center where she trained and showed Arabian horses as well as off track stabling for Church Hill Downs. As a part of the operation, she offered camps for children who love horses and art. Several of. the camps were for the financially handicapped children who could not have other wise attended these camps. She also taught them to create hand painted tee shirts, carve leather and to paint plaques as well as how to market these items in order to pay for the camp cost.Lucky attended Jefferson County Community College where she obtained an Associates Degree in Commercial Art and Photography. She completed a summer course on Medical and Biological Illustration through Cornell University on Appledore Island. She also painted signage, painted equine portraits and did demonstrative art for litigation while she lived in Louisville.In 1993 she married Carl Stradley a lifelong resident of Hubbell. In 2003 she began sculpting in clay. She has exhibited at the Expo in Washington, D.C., the Kansas City Doll Fair, Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA and IDEX in Orlando, Fla.Lucky’s current work is figurative sculpture and face jugs. She teaches classes both in her studio and at other locations. She enjoys doing presentations on figurative sculpting for local clubs and organizations.Refreshments will be served at the open house Saturday, April 17 at the New Earth Clay Pottery and Art Gallery. At this time Depke Andres will demonstrate oil painting and Lucky Stradley will work with clay.Hours for the Gallery are 1-5 Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 11-5 Wednesday and Saturday.
