Heavy black lines on map above outline boundaries of the newly-organized East Nash Volunteer Fire District. The district includes an area within a three-mile radius of the fire house which will be located in the 1600 block of East Nash Street Extension. Southern boundary of the district will be just beyound Parker’s Barbecue on Highway 301 South. Homes along Rural Roads 1608, 1609, 1610 and 1668, between Highway 301 South and Old Black Creek Road are included. The district line cuts Old Black Creek Road at the first home on the right past a small swamp beyond Rural Road 1608. then crosses Old Stantonsburg Road at the Norfolk Southern Railroad. An area down Highway 58 to a group of four tobacco barns is also within the district. A segment of Highway 261 running from East Nash Street Extension to Rural Road 1503 is another portion. The district extends out Highway 301 North just beyond Rural Road 1128. Highway 42 from its intersection with Highway 301 past Rural Road 1501 to a swamp and Rural Roads 1500 and 1547 are within this area. On the other side of Highway 301, the district takes in a portion of Highway 42 and includes Rural Road 1328 past radio station WVOT to the first house on the left, and Rural Road 1327 to within 100 yards of the AtlanticCoast Line Railroad.
