Wilson Warehouse Fetes Farmers; 200 Attend; $1,300 Given In PrizesELM CITY—The Farmers club of the Elm City area held its annual award dinner Tuesday night March 29. in the local high school; lunch room at 6 30 o’clock. The supper was given by the Growers Cooperative warehouse in Wilson.C. J. Moore, vice president of the club, presided in the absence of the president.Some 200 persons attended thei meeting, where prizes worth SI .300 were given. Actually, there are 89 members on the roll, but only 77 members drew for prizes because they had attended seven out of 13 meetings.Present were A. L. Teachey, state supervisor of vocational agriculture, and T. B. Elliott, district supervisor. Mr. Teachey drew the numbers for the prizes.The Elm City Farmers club, which endeavors to promote adult education in the community school, meets every Tuesday night. Besides working in the shop two afternoons per month, the club hears lectures from various individuals. So far this year, members have heard reports on tobacco production in Wilson county, hogs and beef cattle in Wilson county, social security for farmers, the ASC program in Wilson county, new fertilizers and their applications, soil conservation and fish ponds, farm shop and vegetable growing, sesame growing and farm tractors, tobacco harvesters,' farm management, farm safety and irrigation, and sucker control and tobacco grading.Those who gave prizes for Tuesday night’s supper meeting were Farmers Cotton Oil company, Powell Supply company, Stallings Oil and Coal company, Smith Meat service, Zack M. Bissette, Wilton jH. Pridgen insurance agency, T.Feed mills, Lee Motor company, and Southern Cotton Oil company.Others were Sinclair company, Eagle Machinery company, Vir-ginia-Carolina Chemical company, Bridgers Paint and Wallpaper' company, General Supply store, j Southerner Service station, New-jton cafe, L.
