Cluck, which is now in the midst of a vast improvement program.The final court in the mayor’s race was: Hugh S. Cluck, 6,882, to E. J, Dryden, Sr., 2,961, or a majority of 3,901 votes in favor of Cluck.Neither the new Popular political party ticket nor any of its candidates carried a single one of the 17 boxes in Laredo. Returns were slow coming in, with Precinct No. 11, Saunders School, reaching the council chambers shortly before midnightCity Secretary James Haynes polled 6,866 to 2,854 for E. J. Dryden, Jr. Joe Moser was re-elected as city tax assessor by 6,856 to 2,962 for Leonel 3. Guerra. Vote for G. P. Farias, city tax collector, was 6,860 to 2,981 for Rodolfo A. Sanchez. City Treasurer R. J. Benavides was returned to office by a vote of6,859 to 2,755 for Guillermo Castillo.Gallagher Leads TicketLeading the ticket, except for City Attorney Frank Y. Hill who was unopposed, wap H^hief of Police David O Gallagher with 6,873 votes to 2,940 for his opponent George J. Elender. This is considered n unusually good showing, as in many cities the police chiel is generally low man on the ticket.The seven present aldermen were re-elected, as was one new candidate on the Independent Club ticket, Alvin Hansen.City Attorney Frank Y. Hill polled a total of 6,889 votes, written in against him were two votes for John E. Fitzgibbon and ane each for Ezequiel Salinas ind Horace Hall.The election was orderly and seaceful, with not a single inclient of violence reported.
