*On Wednesday, March -28, at' the home of Mrs. Terrence Cullen, in Fajr-tSeld township* occurred one of the few bright events in ordinary life. Nearly j , on© hundred 01 her Iriends, including-‘I ^ her children, gathered at herold home v for the last time before she moved to \Fmmetsburg. Socially the evening j ^was all that could be desired, and waslt;i\KXspent in games ant! social intercourse. Elegant refreshments were served consisting of sandwiches, cake, coffee and • ^ bananas, after which soags and instru-! . mental music was rendered. Thei^ most pleasing feature of the occasion j ^ was asong by T. McGovern’s little girl, ' of Whittemore. The presents left by Mrs. Cullen’s friends were fine, and consisted of a beautiful lamp, a rug, one piece of china, a beautiful vase of flowers and a very nice rocking chair, which was presented by Mrs. Hughes in a few chosen words as follows: -'Mrs. Cullen, it becomes my pleasant duty, in behalf of your children and friends, assembled here to-night, to remind youjV that we have not been forgetful of you. Por over a quarter of a century you have lived In this homeland for years it has been our privilege and pleasure to know your household in congenial friendship, in all the varied walks of neighborly and social intercourse. You have contributed much.in making life pleasant in the circle in which you moved. You have shared in our joys and in our sorrows, and when sorrow visited our homes, your words of comfort and consolation made the sorrow much lighter. Recollecting the pleasant years made agreeable through your acquaintance, your friends herewith present to you these beautiful presents. The gifts presented are the tokens of the high esteem in which you are held by your many friends, and Mrs. Cullen, as you leave your old home and associates to form new ones, wo feel that our loss is thoir gain, and !, let your influence bo of such a nature ! that it will lead others nearer to the | gates of heaven.
