REDUCING DEER HERD AT LEDGESSurplus Bring Taken to Two State Parks in Iowa as Well As Federal Forest Area.aThe deer herd at Ledges State park was being reduced, it was revealed today by the custodian, Floyd Morley.One deer was being taken to Pilot Knob state park, near Forest City, while others are slated to go to Colesburg and Dubuque. Three or four will be taken to White Pine Hollow state park at Coles-burg, and as many go to the U. S forest area at Dubuque, Morley said.The deer will be taken to the latter two places as aoon as they have been trapped.The herd is being reduced by the Iowa State conservation commission as a result of complaints by farmers that the deer were dam-aging and destroying their crops A controversy over how' the deer were to be reduced in number raged for some time, even getting to the state legislature and bringing a statement from the governor of Iowa
