Shenango Lake Erie interests with those of the steel king, Andrew Carnegie, has { .made a very great difference in the affairs of the railroad company, and, in. anticipation of the speedy construction of a lino through to Pittsburg from Butleiythe Pittsburg, Shenango Lake Eric railroad has arranged for many extensive improvements between Lake Erie and Butler. The greatest outlay will be on the reduction of grades und curves. At Freedom hill, in Mercor county, the grade will he reduced to an average of live feet to the mile for •1,000 feoh The Euclid trestles near Bullor, 60 feet, 600 feot and 800 feet in lougth, and the highest 75 foet high, will bo filled up. Forty or fifty ‘‘hog backs” in the road will be ironed out. The greatest change in the lino will boat Shenango lull, and where the grade is 100 foot in ono place and 85 the other to the mile. A new route has been selected which will ont out a uillo and a half of distance and got the grade down to not ovor 25 feet to the mile. Forty or fifty sharp curves bo-tween Greonvillo and Girard will bo reduced from 12 degrees to 5, and the cuts filled into the old Erie canal. The company will expend about $400,000 in the filling of bridges, reducing of grades,reduction of curves and changes Jn roadbed this year, It has also ordered four more now ongines from the Pittsburg shop for immediate delivery.
