Following fireMan found deadA 64-year-old Oshkosh man died of natural causes before a fire broke out in his south side room Thursday after*noon, said Winnebago County Coroner Duane 1. Moore late this morning.Leonard Grota. 702A Oregon St.. was found inside his room above an Oshkosh tavern about 4:30 p.m. Moore said he apparently suffered a heart attack as he entered his room and fell atop a portable heater, which ignited able heater, which Ignited Grata's clothing.The ruling is only tentative, Moore said. A more der-initc ruling would be released following more extensive tests. The preliminary ruling was based on an au-tonsy which Moore ordered after Grota's body wasfound.Grota was extensively burned in the fire. The damage to die room was minor. Fire department reports listed fire and smoke damage as major, but the tavern wasn't forced to close.Grolas body was found in the northwest corner of his room about 4:30 p.m. by Daniel Borski. son of the tavern owner. Arthur Borski.Frank Thielke. another roomer, came down and said there's something burning upstairs. 1 saw smoke coming out of Lenny's room and I pushed on the door, but found it was warm to the touch. 1 then kicked the door open and saw him lying there all burned up. said the 23-year-old Borski. who lives at 1220 CumberlandTrail. Oshkosh.Grota was last seen about 4 p.m. at another south side tavern. Moore said. No other roomer was hurt. One man. identified as Bill Lynch, who lives across the hall from Grota. was found reading a book in his room when the fire broke out. He later left the building unharmed.The fire spread to a portion of Grota's bed. but damage was confined to where Groia fell.
