Maman returned to the area of Eriksdale as

PETER PETER JANZEN
On August 27, 2015, at the age of 90, Peter
Peter Janzen went to be with the Lord and
joined his wife in heaven.
Left to cherish his memory are his children:
Heinz Janzen ( Marlene) and Marianne Racette;
grandchildren: Andrew Janzen ( Haley Luff),
Rachel Janzen ( James Fajardo) and Lauren
Janzen; great- granddaughter Aria Fajardo;
sisters: Leni Stadler, Annie Zielman and
Susanne Janzen; sisters- in- law: Ellen Janzen,
Liese Janzen and Martha Klassen; nieces and
nephews, and the multitude of friends he’d
gathered throughout his lifetime.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife of
61 years, Margaret Janzen; his parents, Peter
and Susanna Janzen; in- laws Peter and
Margarete Thiessen; twin sister Kaethe Freiter;
brothers: Heinrich and Willie Janzen; brothersin-
law: Eduard Stadler, Dirk Zielman, Erich
Freiter and Gerhard Klassen, and sons- in- law
Bruce Martin and Bruce Racette.
Peter endured the hardships of the war,
conscripted at the young age of 17 and survived
four years as a prisoner of war. After his
release, with the help of the MCC, he
immigrated to Leamington, Ontario and was
reunited with his family. He later moved to
Winnipeg where he married his true love
Margaret.
Peter was a dedicated worker and proudly
spent 26 years working as a letter carrier for
Canada Post. With his love of the outdoors and
his outgoing personality, he was perfectly
suited to the job.
When he wasn’t working, he could be found
in the garden. One of his greatest joys was
spending his days outside among the birds,
squirrels and rabbits, watching his flowers
grow.
The coffee was always on at Peter’s. He
made coffee the old fashioned way in a stovetop
percolator and believed a cup of hot coffee
was a prerequisite for everything - especially
when visiting with family and friends.
He was a devoted husband and father, and
proud Opa and recently Uropa.
A special thank you is extended to the staff
at the Misericordia Health Centre Cornish 2, as
well as Bethania Mennonite Personal Care
Home for their loving care of Peter.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday,
September 3, 2015 at 10: 30 a. m. at the North
Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch Street,
Winnipeg. A viewing will take place prior to the
service with the interment to follow at Glen
Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street,
West St. Paul.
Peter loved his church family at the North
Kildonan Mennonite Church. He was honoured
to serve as librarian and as an usher. Therefore,
in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
church or to the Mennonite Central Committee
( MCC).
