BARBARA MCLEOD
Peacefully, on Sunday, July 5, 2015,
surrounded by family and in the arms of her
daughter Candace, Barb McLeod, aged 66,
passed away and began her journey home to
join the Angels.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 40
years, Norman Alexander McLeod; and
daughters, Candace McLeod, Crystal McLeod,
Missy ( Mike) McCullough; and her one and only
precious grandson, Josh Flett- McCullough;
brothers: Leonard ( Anne) Flett, Grand Rapids,
MB, Joe ( Louis) Smith, Selkirk, MB; sisters,
Lillian ( Alex) Paupanekis, Norway House, MB,
Mildred Arthurson, Norway House, MB;
mother- in- law Pearl McLeod; brother- in- law
Doug ( Darlene) McLeod, Screibber, ON; sistersin-
law: Brenda ( Bill) Lalonde, Sheila ( Audie)
Dulewich, Sharon McLeod ( Terry Dulewich)
McLeod, Shirley ( Mike Lysohhirka). Barb also
leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, cousins,
family and many special and dear friends, to
many to mention.
Barb was predeceased by her parents, Muriel
and Donald Flett; brother Bruce Flett; father- inlaw
Allan McLeod.
Barb was born and raised in Norway House,
MB and that is where she met the love of her
life, Norman McLeod. They married on July 25,
1974 and raised their family in Norway House.
Barb retired from Frontier School Division in
2014, where she was employed as a School
Counselor. She began working at the Jack River
School in 1980 as a substitute teacher and
decided to then further her career and pursued
a degree in Education. She received her
Bachelor of Education Degree in 1995 from the
University of Brandon and continued to work as
a School Counselor/ Teacher at the Jack River
and Helen Betty Osborne Schools. Barb cared
deeply for the children and youth she worked
with, along with her colleagues. She always
greeted everyone she met with her beautiful
smile.
Mom always filled our home with love. Home
and family were her number one priority and
focus. She always made our house a home and
ensured her family was always cared for and
loved deeply. Mom enjoyed her visits and phone
calls with family and friends, she loved playing
bingo and would often meet up with her friends
and shared much laughter and smiles.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held with
Wake services on Tuesday, July 7 and
Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the St. Mark’s
Anglican Church Parish Hall, Norway House,
MB.
Prayers and final viewing will be held on
Thursday, July 9, 2015, beginning at 12: 00 p. m.,
followed by funeral service at 2: 00 p. m.
Interment will follow at the St. Mark’s Anglican
Church Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of our beloved father and grandfather
Edgar Mowat, aged 84 years at the Selkirk and
District General Hospital.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister
Phyllis; son Lonny; grandchildren Clarissa and
Brenan; son- in- law Sidney as well as numerous
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his
wife Shelda; daughter Roxanne; sisters Ruthy,
Alice, Edith and Claira; brothers Binny and
Bud; father Gordon and mother Jemihma.
Before battling dementia, Eddie loved
driving his car or simply taking long walks. He
was a talented musician with a guitar often
singing while playing.
From his early years as a postman in Toronto,
to a taxi driver in Selkirk later, he loved
meeting new people and was always kind and
highly organized.
The family would like to express their thanks
to the staff on the Selkirk General Hospital
Medical Ward.
Cremation has taken place and a private
service will be held.

Ayron Wilder Noordman, born March 29,
1992 passed away peacefully June 28, 2015 at
the age of 23 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his
parents, Dan and Tabitha, brother Ethan and
light of his life, his son Ryden.
A celebration of Ayron’s life will be held at
Canad Inns Garden City, Thursday, July 9 at
2: 00 p. m. Reception to follow at North End
Centennial Rec Centre at 3: 30 pm.
We have greatly appreciated the visits from
family and friends and hope to see you at the
Celebration and reception.

2015, at Concordia Hospital, at the age of 76

Catherine Pauls ( nee Stoesz) passed away
peacefully on July 4, 2015 at the Heritage Life
PCH in Niverville, at the age of 82.
Catherine was predeceased by her parents

She is survived by her husband Wally of 62
years, four children: Beverly, Robert ( Rachel),
Douglas ( Sherry) and Bonny ( Rick); her
grandchildren: Roberta ( James), Greg ( Jaclyn),
Kathy ( Nathan); Jolene, Jaymie ( Jeromy),
Stefanie ( Eric), Brielle; Patrick, Julia, and
Katelyn; her great- grandchildren: Oscar, Tyson,
Lauren; Dallas Marie, Luke, and Lincoln; her
brother John Stoesz ( Ellen), and sister Betty

Funeral service for Catherine Pauls will be
held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 11: 00 a. m. at
the Fourth Avenue Bible Church in Niverville.

GORDIE STRATTON
On July 3, 2015 after a courageous fight,
Gordie ( Dad), surrounded by his loving family,
is now at peace.
Gordie will be greatly missed by his loving
wife of 58 years, Inez. Left to cherish his
memory are his four girls; Sandee Deck ( Mike),
Sheri Johnson ( Grant), Shannon Kohut, and
Samantha Michaluk ( Tony). Gordie's pride and
joy were his grandchildren; Dustin ( Shirley),
Devon, Danielle ( Jeff), Jennifer ( Trevor),
Matthew, Joshua, Jessica, Maggie and Brady.
Gordie's most recent ‘ hat trick’ is his three
great- granddaughters Claire, Mackenzie and
Zoey.
Gordie was one of fourteen children of
Ernest and Margaret Stratton. He continued
close relationships with many of his siblings
especially Eva, Margaret, Linda, Doug and
Bruce. Gordie's stories will live on with
numerous family and friends.
Gordie is predeceased by his infant daughter
Tanis, his parents Ernest and Margaret, and his
son- in- law Glen Kohut. Also by siblings Ernie,
Rose, Pearl, Donnie, Harold, and Freddie.
Gordie grew up in Arborg, moving to
Winnipeg as a young teen. Here he met his
forever love, Inez. Family was always number
one throughout a successful hockey career and
life. Upon retiring from hockey, Gordie worked
for the MLCC for many years eventually
transferring to Gimli up until his retirement.
The pinnacle of his career was being inducted
into The Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in
2007. Gordie's milestone was celebrated with
many family members and friends. Gordie
enjoyed days at the beach, walks with Inez and
Checkers, and stories around the campfire.
Special thanks to Gimli Betel Home for
providing excellent compassionate care for
Gordie in his final days - you are his angels!
A celebration of life will be held at 10: 00 a. m.
on July 9, 2015 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic
Church on 7th Avenue, Gimli, MB.
