Arrangements with Memories Chapel, Brandon 1.855.727.0330 TEST TEST DAWNE MACKAY- CHIDDENTON Too soon, a gentle and beautiful soul quietly left us early Saturday, June 27, 2015. Dawne Elizabeth- Margaret MacKay- Chiddenton ( nee MacKay) finally came to terms with her long struggle with cancer at only sixty- one years of age. Left to hold dear her memory are her beloved husband Mark, her cherished son Eryn, her brother Edmond ( Leanne), nephew Paul, niece Bonnie, cousins Jackie ( Miles) and Simone, her much loved aunties and cousins, and an enormous circle of friends. Dawne was predeceased by her parents Hugh and Cora MacKay, whom she adored, and her younger sister Kathleen, a recent loss, that was heartbreaking for Dawne. Dawne was born in New Westminster, British Columbia on November 6, 1953. Her family moved to Winnipeg when Dawne was very young, where she was raised. Dawne was educated at The Convent of the Sacred Heart, and upon graduation attended the University of Manitoba where, as a reflection of her strong belief in social justice, she earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree in October of 1976. The profession of Child and Youth Care would become her passion as she navigated her way from front line care- giver, working with high needs young people, to the management, coordination and development of programming and services for children in care, to the position of Instructor in the Child and Youth Care program at Red River College. In the meantime, Dawne worked on her Master of Social Work degree, which she received in October of 1999. Later, Dawne became Coordinator of the Child and Youth Care program at Red River College. As an advocate for the profession of Child and Youth Care, Dawne was continuously active in the Child and Youth Care Association of Manitoba, and was involved in policy development at the national level with child and youth care associations across Canada. In collaboration with a colleague, Dawne had been putting the finishing touches on a text book they were authoring for child and youth care students, and others working with high- needs, high- risk young people; publication is expected in the fall of this year in what will be a fitting and lasting tribute to a long and significant career where helping others was what motivated her. Dawne delighted in the outdoors, whether it was tending to the many gardens around her home, or exploring the wilderness areas she and Mark travelled to. While the dream to sail away was not realized in the earlier years, it was later fulfilled on Lake of the Woods, where in their cruiser ‘ Daybreak’, they would explore the huge lake then lie at anchor in a quiet bay, and Dawne would marvel at the nature around her; or in exploring the boreal forest in their canoe where they encountered wildlife and flora that constantly inspired her. Dawne loved travel and adventures, and plans were always being contemplated for new experiences across the country and beyond. Dawne made friends wherever she went, in whatever circumstances she found herself; she was a devoted and loyal friend to all those that knew her. She loved to share meals with her family and friends, and talk of food, preparation of food, and the presentation of meals for loved ones and friends were important and treasured activities for her. The family wishes to sincerely thank Dawne’s medical team at CancerCare, at St. Boniface Hospital, for their kindness, care and attention. A celebration of Dawne’s life will be held at 10: 00 a. m. on Saturday July 4, 2015 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. Father Gerry Ward, a long time, and dear family friend, will officiate. Rather than flowers, donations in Dawne’s memory can be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 1M3 Chapel Lawn www. chapellawn. ca 204- 885- 9715 MARY- CATHERINE LINNEN MACPHEE ( SPENCER) January 11, 1942 - June 27, 2015 It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Mary MacPhee, age 73 years. She will be greatly missed by her three daughters, Jacqueline, Tracy and Marie, sonsin- law Mike and Carlos, her adored grandchildren, Braeden, Aaron, Camryn, Austin and Loan, her brothers and sisters around the world and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary was born January 11, 1942 in Glasgow, Scotland into a large and loving family, which she idolized, and were always in her thoughts. Mary moved to Canada with her husband and daughters in the 1970s. Her first priority was always her family. She was incredibly hard working all of her life and was immensely kind to everyone she had met. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their great care and assistance.
