Ä 0 % PURCHASE FINANCING † T HE first 2016 BMW 3 Series models have hit town and according to Birchwood BMW sales manager Ryan Eyer they set new standards for performance, luxury and technology. The 2016 BMW 328i Series model ( as well as the entry level 320i) are equipped with standard rear- wheel drive and optional all- wheel drive ( AWD). “ Our xDrive is the best AWD in the industry,” said Eyer who added both the sedan and sports wagon models feature a sharper design and a sportier front. Other notable highlights include new chrome accents, larger wheels, a more aggressive stance and newly designed lighting with optional full- LED headlights ( standard on 340i). The redesigned headlights add to the vehicle’s dramatic look and give it a sportier appearance. Up front, the lights are further apart and the daytime running lights are more prominent. “ The 3 Series’ adaptive LED lighting provides 25 per cent greater visibility than xenon lights,” said Eyer. “ It’s a great option for drivers who spend a lot of time on the highway.” Also new for the 2016 3 Series is the top of the line 340i trim which replaces the 335i. Eyer said that one of the major 3 Series changes for 2016 is a larger motor. The 320i and 328i are powered by 4- cylinder turbos that put out 180 horsepower, while the 340i features BMW’s EfficientDynamics inline 6- cylinder equipped with the latest BMW TwinPower turbo technology, this engine produces 320 hp. Inside, there are new chrome and wood features. The new head- up display projects vehicle information onto a translucent film on the windshield directly in front of the driver. The system cuts in half the time it takes for your eyes to shift focus from the road to the instrument panel and back. The 328i model with xDrive starts at $ 46,500 ( plus freight and pdi), while the 340i with xDrive starts at $ 54,500 ( plus freight and pdi). Currently, the Pointe West AutoPark dealer has just two models in stock – one 328i and one 340i. “ This is our bread and butter model,” said Eyer, “ BMW enthusiasts are really looking forward to the 2016 models. We have a bunch more on order.” New GSM at Parkside Ford Ralph Wasserberg, Parkside Ford’s new general sales manager, is a lifelong car guy whose career has been entirely in management. “ I grew up in the business,” he says. “ My dad has a garage and bought and sold cars.” He began his career in the industry as the service manager at the former Garden City Chrysler in Morden. He subsequently became the business manager at the dealership, the sales manager and, in 2003, the dealer principal. After Bernie Clement ( Pembina Chrysler Dodge Jeep) acquired the Morden store and renamed it Pembina Valley Chrysler in 2007, Wasserberg stayed on as dealer principal for several more years.
