Williamsport Review Republican (Newspaper) - March 30, 1871, Williamsport, Indiana A fi-.-. Pm la it. If s i mrs. Jhb Budaiy ii me tenant not error Wimb cd Iutok. Pointed he Preo ident a Kat 9a taw iday March 28tli, cell motor of the 4tii la diam by time District his appoint Luent was at oboe Oon fired by the Senate. Qty. ,a8 has reigned the Pon Tina of superintendent of the its tons Battery. The two million dollars appropriation of oot emment and Commodore sex tabs has been entirely expended for the completion of the Battery. That Woolen fac Toht. We would now direct the attention of the citizens of Williamsport and Vicinity to the fact that Warren county is to Day without a Good first class Woolen factory. We in doing so have a purpose. Nothing can to accomplished by inertness and inactivity und we would warn you now to be up and doing. The time for work is upon us let us be at it. Warren county must have a Woolen factory. The wants of her Farmers demand it the growth of the town requires if the future Prosperity of the county at Large asks it at our hands. The nearest Woolen factory to Williamsport is Youngs on Coal Creek some Twenty five or thirty Miles Distant. If a Farner has Wool to sell he must Hunt up his own Market Williamsport Attica or Lafayette. If he desires to Exchange his Wool for cloth jeans flannel or Yam he goes to Younts and necessarily looses much time in the trip when if he could be accommodated at Home the exports would cease and that which goes to feed and build up other places would be retained within the county thereby increasing us in wealth Independence and importance at Home and abroad. At Williamsport the advantages Aud facilities for establishing a Woolen factory Are not excelled by any Point in the state. Men who have prospected Here with the View to building a factory of that kind have declared As much and what has been lacking has been the proper encouragement of the citizens. We Are better Able to Day to invest liberally in a Woolen factory at this Point than Ever before and Why not invest in this kind of an Enterprise ? this once established we Are then still better Able to invest in another Enterprise which will not Only Aid the town but materially help the county and from doing a Little More can be accomplished. It is not Money thrown away nor is it lost but in the end will yield a greater income. What we want is action. Take hold every Man of Yoa and make the Effort at once. Stop building upon speculation and quit considering the ifs and and a and go to work in dead Earnest for the accomplishment of a purpose. Say determinedly that you will build a Good first class Woolen factory at Williamsport the coming season and half the work is done. Nie Sagre from Tite presi Cut. Washington March 23.?the president sent the following message to Congress this afternoon Quot to the Senate and House of Berresen Tatis a a condition of affairs now exists in some states of the Union rendering life and property insecure and the carrying of mails and collection of Revenue dangerous. Proof that such a state of affairs exists in some localities i now Lay before the Senate. That the Power to Correct these evils is beyond the control of the state authorities i do not doubt but that the Power of the executive of the United states acting under existing Laws is sufficient for the emergency is not Clear.
