To make the event memorable it is hoped that the membership of the society May be expanded to include every resident of the Middle West who is descended from a Soldier who fought in the second War for Independence or from a Sailor who served aboard any of the u. S. Ships of War during that conflict. The importance of the Victory at Tippecanoe cannot be overestimated quot declares an Early writer. Quot it quelled the haughty spirit of the j discontented and hostile indians and Defeated the plan which they had almost matured of attacking and destroying our scattered Border settlement in detail. Had we lost this Battle our defenceless Frontier would have been left at the mercy of Savages and the development of the Central states immeasurably in 1814, shortly after the conclusion of hostilities with great Britain the society of the War of 1812 was organized and to this Day the Mem-1 cry of heroes who fought for our future is kept alive by the efforts of their descendants.
